Cathy Power is a Qualified Solicitor and Practice Manager for the Carlow and Dublin offices of Malcomson Law. Cathy combines her practice Manager Role with the representation of clients in property based transactions and related matters.
Experience.
Cathy was admitted to the Roll of Solicitors in January 2005 where she completed three years of practice in the Conveyancing Department of a leading commercial law firm. During this time Cathy advised on a broad range of commercial and residential property transactions including all aspects of leasing, property refinancing, acting for lending institutions and setting up large scale residential developments. In 2008 Cathy joined the team at Malcomson Law where she continued her work in the conveyancing field. Cathy also completed extensive work on agricultural based transactions and advising those in the farming community. As part of her work with the farming community she has delivered advisory sessions and lectures to local farming groups. She is the author of several farming articles covering legal issues. She also has been a commentator in the national media on legal issues for the farming community. As Practice Manager, Cathy holds responsibility for the compilation and implementation of policies and procedures which encompasses the firm's ongoing commitment to risk management.

Raymond is the Managing Partner of Malcomson Law and his key roles include the planning and development of the strategic vision for the business. He established the Dublin office of Malcomson Law in 1996. He leads a team of 45 which includes partners, associate solicitors, professional support and administration staff. Raymond has over 20 years experience in High Court litigation particularly in the area of health law, medical negligence, personal injury, commercial litigation and tribunals of inquiry. He has been a key advisor and negoitator on major changes in Irish legislation and been involved in many high profile cases particulary in the area of health law. He currently leads the Malcomson Law legal team which is representing clients in their action against DePuy Medical Devices. DePuy manufactured the ASR Hip Replacement System which is a metal on metal hip implant which was recalled in August 2010.
Raymond has worked extensively on complex boardroom and partnership disputes. He has acted on behalf of businesses in the High Court in relation to commercial litigation, employment issues and personal injury claims. He is frequently sought after as media commentator and written numerous newspaper articles on a wide range of legal issues. He has lectured extensively in Ireland, America, New Zealand and the UK. Raymond was to the forefront in the development of the law associated with the Coroner's Court and Inquests. During the course of representing the Nowlan family he worked with the family in lobbying Government and succeeded in having the Coroners Amendment Act 2005 signed into law in December 2005.
Raymond has extensive experience in representing victims of health scandals at public inquiries, compensation tribunals and in the Irish High Court. Since 1995 Raymond has played a key role in representing clients in the Tribunals of Inquiry established to find out how and why people's health was damaged or destroyed by contaminated blood products. He negotiated with the Irish Government on the enactment of the terms of reference for the Lindsay Tribunal of Inquiry. He appeared at the Lindsay Tribunal on behalf of the Irish Hemophilia Society. In a significant legal decision in 1999, his work was central to the Government's decision to reverse 150-year old legislation regarding compensation for haemophiliacs infected with HIV and Hep C from contaminated blood products. As a consequence of his work a new compensation scheme was passed into law in 2002.

Sinead qualified with a Bachelor of Civil Law from U.C.D. in 1992. In 1993 she obtained a Diploma in Business Studies from the Michael Smurfit Graduate School of Business and qualified as a Solicitor in 1996. Sinead has worked in private practice since then. In 1998 she became an Associate of the Institute of Taxation in Ireland and joined Malcomson Law in 2010.
Experience
Sinead has specialised in private client, commercial property developments and transactions, in addition to landlord and tenant matters. She has considerable experience across a wide range of real estate transactions including investigation of title, acquisition and disposal of residential, commercial and agricultural property. Sinead advises on landlord and tenant matters, both from the landlord and tenant point of view to include, the drafting and negotiation of various commercial and agricultural leases and licenses. Sinead has extensive commercial property experiences in relation to both sale and purchase. She has dealt with many co-ownership and other property investment structures, advising on property finance. She has expertise in more involved areas of commercial property developments, covering residential, commercial and mixed used developments, tax base investments and other projects. Sinead is very experienced in relation to wills, succession planning, probate, will disputes, administration of estates and advises clients in relation to enduring power of attorney.
