As part of an historic Maine summer estate, The Carriage House sits at the side of a large field extending to the water's edge. Stairs lead to rocky ledges and a natural wading pool carved into the rocks. Built in 1897, the estate was a wedding present to a relative of President Taft. The original Carriage House, tastefully converted to a guest house, uses open space design with bleached barn board interior, provides all the comforts for today's vacationers, and sits privately apart from the main house.
