Linda's integrative approach to counselling/psychotherapy means using broad range of therapeutic viewpoints to understand a person's experience. Everyone makes decisions (mostly unconsciously) as they go through life that affect how they think and behave. We have the capacity to think and feel and to change those decisions that are no longer useful and change the way you think, feel and behave for the better. Linda believes people do not have to let the past dictate their future; whatever has happened in the past, we can determine how our life is and will be from now on.
Linda has found it helps to accept the things we can't change and to find the inner strength to change the things we can. Understanding ourselves better gives us a sense of having more control over our lives and helps us learn new ways to cope with everyday problems. Linda may encourage clients to explore new ways of thinking and being and to consider alternative perspectives on their life and relationships.
Linda has spent many years in the voluntary and public sectors working with individuals who are disadvantaged or struggling to cope with the demands they faced. Some had experienced difficulties in their past that has affected their mental health or their capacity to make good decisions. For Linda training as an integrative psychotherapist seemed like a natural progression.
