The company went independent in 2008, and became The House Directory. Nicolette retired in 2018, and Cheryl in 2021... Our founders Nicolette Le Pelley and Cheryl Knorr were both journalists with a lifetime's experience in interior decoration. Nicolette, the founding deputy editor of The World of Interiors, and Cheryl, an accomplished interior designer, created the online directory after running the telephone information service Design Line and compiling the famous sourcebook, The House & Garden Book of Essential Addresses. The sourcebook provided answers to the most frequently asked decorating questions.
