One and one is three. It's a towering cliché, but also a truism. Gilbert & George, Charles & Ray, Theo & Thea, all are one-piece duos. Each time, one cannot do without the other and the sum is greater than its parts. However, there is no pair quite like 'Buurman & Buurman', the Czechoslovakian puppet animation series about two clumsy but resourceful handymen. It is a particularly skilfully made series, brilliantly animated and lit, and beautiful in all its simplicity. And timeless. Even after almost 50 years, the series still looks as fresh as ever...
