In LEAD Lab, we use social and cognitive psychological methods and theory to explore aspects of decision making in our legal system. Under that umbrella, most of our work explores juror and jury decision making, eyewitness identification, and other antecedents or consequences of wrongful conviction. Our goal is to understand the social context and other factors that affect legal decision making and to develop science based policy that helps increase just outcomes in the legal system...
We are a unique research lab at the University of Florida making breakthroughs in the intersection of the fields of psychology and law. Our main areas of study are wrongful convictions, eyewitness testimony, plea bargaining, and jury decision making.
