Our primary service is news. IndiJ Public Media is the parent company of ICT, formerly Indian Country Today. IndiJ Public Media was formed to empower ICT to transform the narrative of how Indigenous people and communities are reported on in the media. Telling the stories of Indigenous communities by Indigenous journalists is at the core of ICT. Since our beginnings in 1981 as a weekly newspaper, ICT has grown into the largest news organization serving Native American communities today. In April 2020, we expanded into public broadcasting through the daily ICT newscast, reporting on how the coronavirus pandemic affected American Indians and Alaska Natives and First Nations... Our partnerships in strategic locations allow us to hire journalists to report on issues important to Indigenous communities, resulting in news coverage with significant impact.
