A member and Deputy Director of the Aston Institute of Photonics Technologies, I have 30 years' research experience in the field of photonics, working in he areas of non-linear optics and optical fibre sensors and devices. I have published over 400 journal and conference papers on these subjects, as well as a research text book on photorefractive nonlinear optics and several other book chapters. Google Scholar I am currently serving as Director of ASTUTE (the Aston Institute for Urban Technologies and the Environemnt).

Dr José Ricardo Sodré

Dr José Ricardo Sodré received his PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST), in the UK, in 1995. He joined Aston University as a Reader on November 2018, where he actuates in the Energy and Sustainability research group and in the European Bioenergy Research Institute (EBRI). Before, he has worked as an Associate Professor at Birmingham City University, UK, and as an Associate Professor at Pontifical Catholic University of Minas Gerais, in Brazil. He has been a member of the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) and the Brazilian Society of Mechanical Sciences and Engineering (ABCM), and acts as a consultant to several government research funding agencies in Brazil and other Latin American countries, including CAPES, CNPq and FAPEMIG.

Yuchun Xu

Professor Yuchun Xu is a Chair in Manufacturing, leader of two interdisciplinary research themes Digital Engineering, and Circular Economy at Aston University. His research is mainly focused on Smart Manufacturing, Remanufacturing, Life Cycle Engineering and Cost Modeeling/Analysis. Prof Xu's research is sponsored by EPSRC, Innovate UK and EU H2020, FP7 etc. with total profile over £25M. His research closely links with industry to address the challenges associated with Smart Factory, Asset Management, and Circular Economy. His industrial collaborators include Manufacturing Technology Centre, Airbus, Rolls-Royce, QinetiQ and Network Rail etc.
