Basu Sharma began her training in Indian Creative Dance under the tutelage of Late Shri Narendra Sharma in 1988. Shri Narendra Sharma was a student of Uday Shankar, who is the father of Indian creative dance. She performed and assisted Shri Narendra Sharma in Indian dance festival in USSR, International Dance Festival in West Germany, Yuva Award function in India etc.
She learnt various folk dances from Parvitya Kala Kendra and Kathak from Bhartiya Kala Kendra. She conducted many dance workshops for Sahitya Kala Parishad such as summer dance workshop in Prayaas Observation House and for Ministry of Human Resources. She taught dance in schools and choreographed their annual day functions.
In 2006, she established Dishaa Creative Dance Group. With the support of Ministry of Culture, she produced and choreographed dance drama like Mardaaani, Ardh, Reflection, Aparajita, The Stamp etc. She and her group was invited to perform in ‘Qatar- India year of Culture 2019' held Doha, Qatar. In 2022, she choreographed ‘Babasaheb - The Grand Musical' organised by Delhi govt.
