Dr. Sabna Rajeev Krishnan

Sabna is an accomplished scientist by profession and is dedicated to continue the social commitment her parents instilled in her through their constant exchanges with the society. Sabna finished her Masters in Biotechnology from Periyar University and did her doctoral research at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS). She was the recipient of prestigious Australian Post Graduate Award and Vice Chancellor's Post-Graduate Conference Fund(x2) during her doctoral research. She has presented her work in many esteemed national/ international platforms and was greatly appreciated for her work. Post her doctoral work, she is working on the clinical and technical validation of the prognostic assay she has developed and training doctoral candidates in the technique. Her project has been awarded the distinguished Stanford ‘Spark' funding and internal seed funds for commercialisation of the assay. Professionally, she is a subject matter expert in the non-genetic pathway of drug resistance dissemination in cancers and their prognostic significance. She holds a patent on Method for Cancer Prognosis (PCT/AU2018/050420) and works in clinical research with PRA-Janssen (Johnson & Johnson) Flex program. She aims to give continuity for her father, VNN's social commitments. The foundation aims to bring life to the core values as well spirit of VNN through its endeavours. Personally, Sabna has stood for various causes and has dedicated significant time planning and organising events as well projects, which supported genuine causes. Sabna and her husband Rajeev also make it a point to align any celebrations in their family dedicated towards a socially relevant cause. Sabna is also an Indian Classical Dance Exponent (mainly Bharathnatyam and Mohiniyaattam) and a freelance writer for publications (mostly invited). She is a member of ‘wriders' - Sydney based platform focussed on regular intellectual exchanges over a myriad of topics. Rajeev was instrumental in making VNN's last wish of donating his mortal remains for medical students. He co-ordinated all the necessary paperwork in such a difficult time and handed over the mortal remains of VNN to the Calicut Medical College Anatomy department. He has supported many important causes such as Can4Cancer, Movember, City2Surf, Pub2Pub to name a few.
