CUSTOM TIMBER WORKS

Jo is a 3 rd generation wood craftsman: his grandfather made Mosquito aircraft for De Havilland in WW2 and his father was a fine cabinet maker, with a specialism for period furniture and fittings restoration. The path to Custom Timber Works runs back a long way into the sawdust and stories of his childhood. The grain runs through his bones and as Anthony Caro said in an interview, ‘Jo's language is wood'... A new space in Somerset, where Jo set up Custom Timber Works in 2003, allowed the creation of huge sculptures in wood for Caro as well as smaller creative design and domestic projects for a range of clients. Foremost among these have been a series of sculptural table projects, a meeting point of art and furniture, commissioned by chef patron Tom Kerridge for his restaurants in Marlow and London.
