The Lexington Inn was established in 1856 as a stage coach stop for the town of Lexington, Iowa. The historic 2-story brick and mortar home remains the only structure from the once thriving village. As business slowly shifted to nearby Bedford in the late 1800's, Lexington became a ghost town. Aside from the nearby cemetery, what remained of the town site was turned into farmland.
