Eric, with more than two decades in the industry, brings his comprehensive knowledge and experience into every single project.
Prior to joining Heyer Engineering, he worked for various engineering firms including Pre-Engineering Metal Building design, Parking Structure Rehabilitation, and Grain Storage & Food Processing facilities.
Due to his rich and extensive experiences, Eric has been able to refine his skills and has developed a wide and diverse understanding in the structural design of building structures, with professional knowledge of all major building materials including: Concrete, Precast Concrete, Structural Steel, Cold Formed Steel, Masonry, and Wood.
He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Concordia College, with a Bachelor of Arts, and with honors from North Dakota State University, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering.
Specializing at developing practical structural solutions to challenging building types, including the expansion of existing major structures. He understands the importance of well-crafted, clear structural documentation and has a reputation for delivering buildings under budget.
Eric is a member of the Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute (PCI), American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC), American Concrete Institute (ACI), and Construction Specifications Institute (CSI) and he is an active member of his church and volunteers coaching youth sports.
With a solid foundation in Prestressed Precast Concrete, Architectural Precast Concrete, and Vibration analysis, Eric is uniquely positioned to complete projects such as Athletic and Sports Arena, Military projects, and Historical Building forensics and rehabilitation.
Eric, due to his expertise and reputation, brings an exceptional and committed perspective in meeting Heyer Engineering client's needs to maintain budgets and produce best in class projects on time.
JIM HEYER - CEO, Chairman, VP

As board chair, vice president and CEO, Jim focuses on strategic planning, leadership development, client retention and acquisition, management and direction of multiple office locations, mentoring direct reports, and producing best-in-class projects.
With 44 years in the industry, Jim has supervised more than 15,000 projects around the nation and internationally and has guided projects ranging from large custom residential homes to multimillion-dollar facilities. He has been involved with the design and management of a wide variety of projects including religious facilities, health care facilities, government facilities, educational facilities, industrial facilities, energy facilities, recreational facilities, and more.
Upon graduating with honors from North Dakota State University, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering in 1976, he worked for two architectural engineering firms until he founded Heyer Engineering in 1983. Starting as a one-man shop, the company has grown to four offices around the nation.
He is a member or past member of the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE), American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC), Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute (PCI), and American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE).
Additionally, he has held leadership roles as a former member of the City of Fargo Board of Appeals, a Director on the North Dakota State University Alumni Board and on the Executive Committee, and was a member of the North Dakota State University Civil Engineering Advisory Board.

Having been in the industry since 2005, Ryan has extensive design-build and construction site experience and specializes in the structural design of steel and concrete buildings.
Ryan earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from North Dakota State University in 2005 and upon joining Heyer engineering after graduation, immediately was intrigued by the industrial side of structural engineering.
While providing consulting services for several years, he decided to direct his career to industrial structural engineering. This allows Ryan to pursue the engineering sector he enjoys while become extremely proficient in designing all types of structures to support numerous loading criteria both small and extremely large or tall.
