GOUGE TRAINING

During my last assignment at the Pentagon, I noticed how long it took to get staff officers up to speed and knowledgeable in their new positions. Formal training for newcomers to the Air Staff and specific job training were virtually non-existent. You could only learn through informal channels (ask a co-worker). It would take several months to become proficient in some positions and years to actually become forward thinking. Based off the lack of formal training, I developed the idea to create training for both onboarding for newcomers to the organization and specific job training for selected positions. Additionally, develop presentations on specific issues that have a long and complex history. Obtaining a quick and insightful training on those topics would be significantly beneficial to people who needed a "history lesson" on a specific topic.
