Alicia Michel

Job Titles:
  • Assistant
Alicia Michel is a preschool assistant and she visits each classroom for at least a few minutes each day. She graduated from Asbury College in 2001 with a bachelor degree in Accounting. In 2006, she left the workplace to stay home with her children and that led into 10 years of homeschooling, which she says she absolutely loved.

Becky Stewart

Mrs. Stewart has been teaching at SCA since 2022. She graduated from Marshall University with a Bachelor of Arts in Education, Art K-12, cum laude. Mrs. Stewart's favorite part about teaching at Summit is sharing the love God has given her for art and music from a biblical point of view with the students. "The LORD is my strength and my shield; My heart trusted in Him, and I am helped; Therefore my heart greatly rejoices, And with my song I will praise Him." Psalm 28:7

Brittany Ogata

Job Titles:
  • Office Manager
Brittany Ogata started working for Summit in June but has been a part of SCA for 4 yrs as a parent. Previous to working here she has worked in real estate, property management, business management, and bookkeeping. She says her favorite part of this job is, "getting to be a part of the SCA family. The character and integrity of our students and staff amazes me and I am humbled and honored to be here! She has 4 children that attend Summit and she has been married for 18 yrs."

Cassandra Fox

Mrs.Fox began working at SCA in 2023. She earned my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from Asbury University in 2013. She believes that the most rewarding part of being a teacher at SCA is having the ability to teach and to guide the students in the classroom with a Biblical view in all situations. She says this allows her to help guide students in the right direction, providing a Christ centered education.

Cheri Murphy

Mrs. Murphy became a part of the SCA team in 2015. She earned a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from the University of Kentucky. She is blessed to work with amazing friends, coworkers, and sweet preschool students. "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and he shall direct thy paths." Proverbs 3:5-6

Dwan Warren-Hooten

Job Titles:
  • Member of the SCA Team
Ms. Hooten has been a member of the SCA team since 2024. She received a bachelor's degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from Midway University in 2019 and a Master's in Social Work from Eastern Kentucky University in 2023. Her favorite part of teaching at Summit is getting to know the students and witnessing the excitement and growth in learning.

Elizabeth Brunetti

Mrs. Elizabeth Brunetti Elizabeth Brunetti started working at SCA in 2017. She earned her Masters in Education from University of the Cumberlands graduating Summa Cum Laude after receiving her Bachelor's of Science from Western KY University. Mrs. Brunetti loves that at SCA she can teach a Biblical world view in all subjects and use scripture to redirect, discipline and motivate students.

Emily Scott

Mrs. Scott joined the SCA team in 2024. She graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature and Writing. Mrs. Scott is thrilled to be teaching at a Christian school and all the perks that accompany it. "For I know the plans I have for you,' declares the Lord, 'plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11.

Haley Yeaples

Job Titles:
  • Preschool Teaching Assistant
Haley Yeaples is a Preschool Teaching assistant. She is usually working with the 3 year olds.This is her first year teaching at SCA. She graduated from West Jessamine High School. Her favorite part about teaching and assisting is seeing the kid's face light up when they understand something or when she has just made them really happy about something.

Hannah Halbert

Ms. Halbert has been working with SCA since 2021.She graduated from the University of Kentucky (2017) with a Degree in Family Sciences and Minor in Education, cum laude. Ms Halbert's favorite part about working at summit is being able to share God's word daily and build relationships with the students and families. "Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever" Psalm 23:6

Heather Gibbons

Job Titles:
  • Principal
Heather Gibbons is our school's Principal. She has a bachelor's degree in Family Consumer Sciences Education from Morehead State University and a master's degree in Educational Leadership from Eastern Kentucky University. With nearly two decades of experience in education, including a position as a lead pre-school teacher, teaching 4th grade, and then teaching in both middle school and high school, Mrs. Gibbons has a well rounded background in education. These experiences give her a unique perspective that benefit all areas of our preschool and K-12 academy. Mrs. Gibbons has a long history on this campus. She has been a member of Lexington First Assembly of God since 2001. Both of Mrs. Gibbons' children attended Summit Christian Academy through 8th grade. Mrs. Gibbons was also a teacher at SCA for five years. Because of her passion for Summit Christian Academy, Mrs. Gibbons joined the SCA School Board in 2019 and has served as the secretary of the School Board since that time.

Jamie Masters

Mrs. Masters is excited to be teaching Middle School English and High School Creative Writing. She has taught high school English for over ten years and graduated from Morehead State University with a B.A. in English and Secondary Education. She earned a M.A. in Education from Indiana Wesleyan University and she is also a Children's Ministry Director for her home church here in Lexington.

Jennifer Ogata

Jennifer Ogata has worked in education since graduating in 2001. She graduated Indiana University (Bloomington) with a B.S. in Art Education K-12. She worked as a substitute and volunteered in the public school for many years and she has also worked with challenged teens in a Christian recovery program. Jennifer was trained in Montessori and taught for several years in a Montessori school. She has also been trained in disability ministry and wrote a kids book to encourage every child, sharing Christ's truth and love.

Julie Vaughan

Mrs. Vaughan join the team here at Summit in 2024. She has earned her Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education and graduated with honors. Her favorite part of working at SCA has been meeting all the people and being in a Godly environment.

Katelin Austin

Ms. Austin began teaching at Summit in 2023. I have a Bachelors in Education from Concordia University Nebraska. I love teaching at Summit because I can talk about God and pray with my students. I love that we get to spend time with God each day as a class. My favorite verse is "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight." Proverbs 3:5-6

Kelley Wheeler

Mrs. Kelley Murphy Wheeler is the Transitional Kindergarten Teacher and the SCA Preschool Assistant Director. Mrs. Wheeler was born and raised in Lexington, Kentucky and attended the University of Kentucky where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Social work. She joined the team at Summit in March 2011.

Kristin Hobbs

  • Summit 's Receptionist
Kristin Hobbs has been working Summit's receptionist since June of 2020. She is a graduate of the University of Kentucky and enjoys working at Summit because it is a faith-based environment. A fun-fact about Kristin is that she is a black belt in Aikido and has been trying since 2005. She says, "I hope the students of SCA know that I care about them and want to help them succeed in school and in life"

Meredith Bennett

Mrs. Kara Watkins

Mrs. Kara Watkins began teaching at Summit in 2017. She graduated from Georgetown College in 2010 with a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. She also received her master's degree in 2017 from Georgetown College in Teacher Leadership with an endorsement in literacy. Her favorite part of teaching at Summit is the family environment and having the opportunity to share Jesus with the students every day. "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths." Proverbs 3:5-6

Mrs. Lindsay Bliss

Mrs. Lindsay Bliss has been part of the SCA team since 2023. Lindsay graduated from Elizabethtown Com munity & Technical College in 2013 with an Associate Degree in Applied Science - Culinary Arts, Food & Beverage Management, Professional Catering and Personal Chef. She earned a spot on the Dean's List and President's Honor Roll all three years of attendance. Her favorite part about working at SCA is the children and the unity of the staff. The children are the bright light that this dark world needs, and their laughter fills her cup. "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16

Mrs. Nora Cardona

Mrs. Nora Cardona is the second grade teacher and loves working with Summit Christian Academy's elementary students in reading to explore what God wants them to know about Him and who He wants them to be. She began her teaching career in her early 20's as a preschool assistant and she returned to college to earn her teaching certificate in Early Childhood Education to continue in a career in education. Nora earned her B.A. in Physical Education, emphasis on Athletic Training, from Whittier College, CA, and her ECE Certificate from Cerritos College, CA. She is currently re-certified in elementary education through ACSI.

Mrs. Rachel Osborne

Mrs. Rachel Osborne has been the Preschool Director since 2020. She has a bachelor's degree from Western Governors University in Business Management. She worked for Jefferson Country Public Schools for twelve years. Mrs. Osborne is an Ordained Minister in the Assembly of God. She enjoys spending time with her husband, children and grandson. Mrs. Osborne has worked with children in various settings for the past 30 years including being a Children's Pastor for over a decade. She has a passion to see children learn and thrive. She says, "Children are like little sponges that soak in all the information their teachers are teaching them. I love seeing their faces light up when they learn something new. I love to see when a child realizes the need to ask Jesus into their heart. Children are world changers. Jesus even said, 'Anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.' My hope and prayer for every child at Summit Christian Preschool is that they will grow mentally, physically, and spiritually." Mrs. Osborne hopes that each child will remember their time in Summit Christian Preschool as a time they were loved, felt safe, had a lot of fun, but most of all that they learned about Jesus. Her life verse is: "Be Strong and Courageous. Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go." Joshua 1:9

Ms. Kimberly White

Ms. Kimberly White became part of SCA in 2020 but has over a decade of experience in the preschool setting. She earned her Masters in Interdisciplinary Early Childhood Education through the University of Kentucky. Her bachelors is from Asbury University in Elementary Education. As a student at Asbury, Ms. White received the Roy L. Lauter Servant Leadership award for her work with the children at Nathaniel United Methodist Mission.

Ruth Corman

Sara Beth Floyd

Mrs. Floyd has been on staff at Summit since 2022. Her bachelor's degree is in Secondary Education English. She received that degree from Tennessee Technological University in 2009 where she graduated Cum Laude. After having a radical salvation experience, she felt the call to ministry and began school at Asbury Theological Seminary where she later received a Master of Divinity degree. She went on to become ordained in the Assemblies of God and is now the Associate Pastor at Nicholasville First Assembly of God. Mrs. Floyd loves Summit because she loves teaching and ministering to students. She believes the most rewarding experience is to be able to speak into the lives of students which provides an opportunity to help shape the future generations of workers in the Kingdom of God. Mrs. Floyd has a favorite verse which she stands on in her daily life and hopes her students will too. "For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. " Romans 8:38-39

Sarah Hoke

Ms. Hoke joined the SCA team in 2024. She has her Bachelors of Science in Biology. She shares that she enjoys the helpfulness and teamwork built into SCA.

Steve Hill

Mr. Hill join the SCA team in 2024. He graduated from Oklahoma Panhandle State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Health & Physical Education and a minor in Education & Mathematics. His favorite part about teaching is spending time with students, trying to share the joy of Jesus, and helping them understand what they didn't before. "For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him." 2 Corinthians 5 : 21

Vicky Hughes

Mrs. Hughes has been teaching at SCA since 2024. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Education from the University of Kentucky and her Masters of Business Education from Morehead State University. My favorite part of teaching at Summit is working with her students in the classroom.
