Dr. Bob Michael

Bob retired as the Associate Vice Chancellor of Educator Preparation and Policy for the University System of Georgia, working with the public colleges and educational agencies to develop policies and innovations supporting educator preparation programs. Previously, Bob was the Dean of the College of Education at the University of North Georgia, working with colleagues to develop several innovative programs, including the first Early Childhood and Special Education dual-major undergraduate degree in Georgia, two-year placement programs for pre-service teachers, an alternative teacher certification program, and international exchanges for students and faculty. Bob also worked at Valdosta State University and Georgia State University; he began his education career as a middle grades language arts and science teacher.

Dr. Cheryl Granade Sullivan

Her liberal arts education at Agnes Scott College launched Cheryl Granade Sullivan into a life of learning and adventure. She went on to complete graduate degrees, including the first Ph.D. in Educational Leadership awarded by the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences at Emory University. The research for her degree won a national dissertation award. In addition to heading her own consulting practice for 37 years, she has taught as a visiting faculty member at several universities, including The University of Texas at Austin. Her numerous publications include How to Mentor in the Midst of Change. Work and fun have led her to travel to all seven continents and the fifty states of the US.

Dr. Eike Jordan

  • Founder of the Southeastern Chapter of the German - American Chamber of Commerce
Eike is the founder of the Southeastern Chapter of the German-American Chamber of Commerce and has lived in Atlanta since 1978. He is co-founder, past-president, and honorary board member of the German School of Atlanta and a long-time member of the boards of the German Cultural Center and the German American Cultural Foundation. He was awarded the Cross of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany for his accomplishments in solidifying German-American relations. Eike is the chairman of The Halle Foundation, which focuses on fostering friendship and understanding between Americans and Germans.

Dr. Manjula Salomon

Manjula was born in India and educated in India, the UK, and the US. She has earned multiple Master's degrees, been a Fulbright scholar, and earned an Ed.D in Curriculum Development and Pedagogy with a specialty in international Education. Most of her career has been in international schools in Iran, the US, and Indonesia. Manjula was part of the IB program in those schools, and was also IB's Chief Examiner for TOK for eight years. She co-authored two TOK text books. She currently serves as the Associate Head of Academics and Global at the Palmer Trinity School in Miami, Florida, and plans to bring the IB Diploma Programme into her school in 2021.

Dr. Monique Seefried

Born a French citizen in Tunisia, Monique became a US citizen in 1985. She grew up in Austria, France, and Italy and holds a Ph.D. in History from the University of Paris-Sorbonne. She is fluent in English, French, German, and Italian and spent the last 40 years working in the museum world and education. In 1999, she became the Founding Executive Director of CASIE and led the organization until 2004. Since stepping back from its daily leadership, she has served on CASIE's board of trustees and in 2016 became the board chair. From 2003 until 2009, she served as Chairman of the International Baccalaureate (IB) Board of Governors. In 2014, she was appointed by the Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives to the US World War I Centennial Commission.

Drew Schuler

Job Titles:
  • Finance Assistant
Drew was born in Africa, spent his childhood in Europe and the Middle East, and currently lives in the United States. He has a history degree from Princeton University and has taught English as a second language in Cairo, Egypt. He has been working part-time at CASIE for more than five years, responsible primarily for accounts receivable and helping schools/districts navigate the payment process. He enjoys reading, cooking, and hanging out with his family.

Jill Sims

Job Titles:

Jill has a Master's degree in Educational Leadership from Clark Atlanta University and a Bachelor's degree in Education from The Ohio State University. Her past work experience includes serving as a teacher, assistant principal, 12 years as a principal with the last 7 at an IB World School, Executive Director of Teaching and Learning for Marietta City Schools, and Executive Director of Academic Programs including all four IB Programmes. She enjoys reading, traveling especially to the beach, spending time with her husband and now-grown son and daughter, friends, and walks with her dog.

John Denine

Job Titles:
  • Executive Director
John has a Master's degree in Secondary English Education from Georgia State University and a Bachelor's degree in English from the United States Naval Academy. He has excelled in transformational leadership, strategic planning, and operations management in his 21-year career as a public school International Baccalaureate educator and 24-year active and reserve career as a U.S. Navy Officer. John has extensive travel and intercultural experience. In his personal life, he enjoys reading philosophy, watching soccer, and planning his next international trip.

Katherine Ahn

Katherine is a recent graduate of Emory University, with a B.A. in Linguistics and Psychology. Being born and raised in Atlanta in a multi-linguistic background fostered Katherine's interest in pursuing a career in international education. Katherine hopes to gain more experience in exploring the IB and the different disciplines of international education. She is a matcha addict and loves to read cosmetology reports and journals.

Meagan Swingle

  • Marketing Strategist
Meagan is a marketing strategist with 20 years of experience crafting PR and digital media programs for global organizations and Fortune 500 companies. She began her career with the Atlanta Braves, where she helped lead the team's PR department for over a decade. She is a proud Clemson University graduate, with a B.A. in Communications. She lives with her family and their dog and loves writing, traveling, skiing, studying Spanish, painting, practicing yoga and mindfulness, advocating for causes near to her heart, and most of all, traveling with family - be it to a Georgia state park, just for the day, or to a mountain or ocean far away.

Mr. Geoffrey Gavin

Geoffrey is an attorney with the Jones Day law firm in Atlanta. Geoffrey has been practicing in the area of intellectual property law for over 20 years and advises clients on foundational IP matters, including patent litigation, and strategic IP counseling. He is a graduate of Duke University and the University of Alabama School of Law. Geoffrey has served on the CASIE Board since 2015.

Mr. Iwan Streichenberger

Iwan earned his Master in Management from ESCP Europe and completed the Advanced Management Program at the Harvard University Business School in 2014. He is an entrepreneur, investor, operator, and consultant, focusing on Education and Technology, and their fast-changing and growing intersection. With 25 years of experience, Iwan has worked with top-tier consulting firms, large multinationals, private equity firms, and innovative start-ups, such as Vivendi Universal, Promethean, Houghton Mifflin, Pearson, The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, The Boston Consulting Group, and more. Iwan has worked and lived throughout the world, including France, South Africa, and the in Massachusetts, California, and Georgia in the United States of America. He speaks French and English fluently. Iwan enjoys spending time with his wife and two children as well as mountain biking, skiing, sailing, and golf.

Mr. Kevin Denney

Kevin holds a BA in History from Presbyterian College, a teaching certification with gifted education concentration from Georgia State University, and an MEd from Kennesaw State University. He has taught for 31 years at various schools in North Georgia; 13 years as a middle school teacher and the last 18 as a high school teacher. He has taught IB History since 2004 and Theory of Knowledge since 2017. Kevin has been both the DP & CP Coordinator at South Forsyth High School since 2008 and the President of the IB Georgia Association of World Schools since 2008. He has also been an IB Educator Network volunteer (IBEN) since 2011 and in that capacity has served on both IB consulting and visiting teams.

Mr. Patrick Wallace

Patrick currently serves as the Program Specialist for World Languages and Global Workforce Initiatives with the Georgia Department of Education, where he supports a variety of programs including the Georgia Seal of Biliteracy, the International Skills Diploma Seal, and the Georgia Dual Language Immersion Initiative. He is a veteran German teacher of 22 years and a two-time Teacher of the Year, recipient of the SCOLT Leadership Award, and a published author.

Ms. Emily Willingham

Native Atlantan Emily Willingham, (BA, English, Wake Forest University; MAT, English, University of Vermont) has championed education through myriad engagements: 12th grade English teacher, Virginia public schools; freshman composition and literature professor, Georgia Tech; information technology instructor, Auckland, New Zealand; ‘Literary & Education Expert,' Jiangxi Institute of Finance and Economics, Nanchang, Jiangxi, China; Education Consultant, Bellerive Foundation, Geneva, Switzerland and Nairobi, Kenya; Trustee, Atlanta International School (AIS); investigator and primary author, "Living Languages at AIS," recommending the launch of AIS's Early Learning Center offering total immersion for 3 and 4-year-olds in four languages. Emily joined CASIE's board in 2012.

Ms. Kimberly Yoo

Kimberly currently works for JP Latz Advisors providing CFO-level advisory services for private companies and nonprofits across a diverse range of industries. In addition, Kimberly serves as Senior Investment Analyst for a large family office overseeing a multi-million dollar investment portfolio encompassing stocks, bonds, private equity, 1031 exchanges, and private real estate investments. Prior to joining JP Latz Advisors, Kimberly worked at Credit Suisse First Boston in the Private Client Services Group. She also worked as an auditor and asset portfolio manager for an asset-based lending company where she focused on small to medium companies.

Ms. Nancy Bauer

Nancy, the founder of BrandWoman Consulting, is an industry expert in marketing to women, and a senior strategist in brand marketing, strategic partnerships, thought leadership, and reputation building in the educational and consumer lifestyle arena. For nearly 20 years, Nancy served as a Senior VP and Senior Partner with Fleishman-Hillard International Communications and worked with companies such as Delta Airlines, Viking Range Corporation, ING, Johnson & Johnson, and Lexus. She has served as a board member and head of the marketing committee for the Atlanta International School and as a policy analyst for the Deputy Chancellor of the New York City Board of Education. Nancy holds a BS in International Relations and Spanish from West Virginia University and an MA in Management and Policy Analysis from the New School University in NYC.

Ms. Pascale Viala

Pascale is currently Head of the Secondary School Library at the Atlanta International School. Originally from France, she moved to Atlanta with her family in 2006 to follow her husband's career and embraced IB international education through her three sons' schooling at AIS. After 17 years of diverse experiences with Unilever in Europe, ranging from Chemical Engineer in R&D to Plant Operations Manager or Facilities Director, she decided to depart from corporate life and went back to graduate school to become a library and information technology teacher. Change management and continuous improvement are at the heart of her lifelong learning approach.

Odette Diaz Schuler

Odette has a Master's degree in Museum Studies from The George Washington University and a Bachelor's degree in Anthropology from Emory University. Prior to joining CASIE, she worked in museums around the country for over 15 years. She loves reading, traveling, cooking, crafting, following the Bravoverse, and relaxing at home with her husband, their two teenagers, and their dog and four cats.

Philip G. Mazzara

Philip G. Mazzara has led comprehensive advancement programs and capital campaigns for a wide range of non-profit organizations during his 45-year career. He has served as president of three hospital foundations and chief development officer for two academic medical centers, a technology university and a liberal arts college. Additionally, he has served as chief development officer for two Atlanta-based international NGOs, The Carter Center and CARE USA.

Sara Morrill

Sara has a Bachelor's degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management from University of Houston. Prior to joining CASIE, she worked in the hotel industry for six years as an Event Manager. She enjoys playing softball, volleyball, traveling, cooking, and baking. Most importantly, she likes to hang out with her 70 pound American English Coonhound Mix named Oliver.

Sarah Wells

Sarah graduated from the University of North Georgia with a degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Management. She enjoys traveling, cooking, and playing fetch with her kitties.

Zoe Bienert

Zoe is currently an undergraduate student at Emory University, studying Linguistics and Psychology. She hopes to pursue a Masters in Speech Language Pathology after she graduates from Emory to continue to follow her passion for working with and helping children. She enjoys traveling, reading, and spending time with her family and dog.
