In the late 1970's, the federal government passed the Self Determination Act granting the native tribes of the United States the right to create self-sustaining corporations. H.S.D. Consulting was established in Anchorage, Alaska in 1989, in response to the need of the Yupik, Chupik, and Inuit tribes of North America to establish pharmacy services and strategic plans for independent native-run operations.
