Anthony Kim

Anthony Kim is a partner at the firm. His practice encompasses complex civil litigation in state and federal court, representing clients in a wide range of cases, including class action litigation, contract disputes, employment, and public interest litigation involving CEQA, taxpayer waste laws, and the Public Records Act. Anthony also represents injured workers before the Workers' Compensation Appeals Board. Anthony has litigated cases at the administrative, trial, and appellate levels, including the California Supreme Court. Anthony was recognized again this year for the third consecutive year as a Super Lawyer in environmental litigation. Anthony's wide range of litigation matters include: Obtaining published appellate decision establishing that taxpayers may bring a taxpayer-waste/conflict-of-interest action against private parties who enter into an improper contract with a public agency. Gilbane v. Sup. Ct., 223 Cal. App. 4th 1527 (2014). Obtaining published appellate decision successfully reversing the trial court's ruling on whether a public agency was required to recirculate an environmental impact report based on substantial new information, and affirming the trial court's ruling that the public agency was required to comply with its general plan requirement to generate electricity on-site to the maximum extent feasible. This case also established that public agencies must comply with the plain language of Government Code section 66474 when approving a parcel map. Spring Valley Lake Ass'n v. City of Victorville, 248 Cal. App. 4th 91 (2016). Successfully challenging annexation of city and unincorporated section of county into fire district's service zones, ultimately resulting in the refund of approximately $6.8 million in special taxes back to property owners. Securing full defense verdict on summary judgment on behalf of employer against employee seeking in excess of $1,000,000.00 for alleged discrimination, harassment, IIED, breach of contract, and constructive discharge. Securing full defense verdict on summary judgment on behalf of individual sued in business dispute involving causes of action for indemnity, breach of warranty, fraud, negligence, restitution, and rescission. Successfully obtaining summary adjudication on behalf of employer as to causes of action for retaliation and wrongful termination under FEHA due to employee's failure to exhaust administrative remedies. Successfully obtaining writ of mandate setting aside mitigated negative declaration and development agreement related to proposed Amazon distribution warehouse. Successfully obtaining writ of mandate setting aside environmental impact report on the ground that public agency failed to support its finding that proposed land use project would not result in significant hazardous materials and air quality impacts. Successfully obtaining writ of mandate against Westminster School District ordering it to promptly and fully comply with the California Public Records Act. Prior to helping found KLK Law Group, Anthony was an associate with Briggs Law Corporation, litigating complex public interest, commercial, and employment disputes. He graduated with a B.A. in history from Cal State Long Beach, and graduated cum laude at Thomas Jefferson School of Law, where he served as an editor on the Law Review and as a judicial extern to Judge Timothy Taylor of the San Diego County Superior Court.

Farhad Khojasteh

Farhad Khojasteh is a partner at KLK Law Group, LLP. Mr. Khojasteh has focused his practice in the area of workers compensation law from the outset of his legal career, successfully litigating countless cases before the Workers Compensation Appeals Board for injured workers across the entire state of California, getting them the justice that they deserve. Mr. Khojasteh is a local product of Orange County, calling it home for over 30 years. Mr. Khojasteh attended college at California State University of Fullerton, where he received his B.A. in Communications with an emphasis on Public Relations in 2007. Mr. Khojasteh went on to attend Thomas Jefferson School of Law where he received his Juris Doctorate in 2012. While attending Thomas Jefferson School of Law he was placed on the honor roll, and was awarded the Jefferson Medal, and the Witkin Award for Academic Excellence in International Trade and Developing Countries. For this distinction the CALI board of directors awarded him the Excellence for the Future Award. Mr. Khojasteh also received the Jefferson Medal, and the Witkin Award for Academic Excellence in Entertainment Law. Once again for this distinction the CALI board of directors awarded Mr. Khojasteh with the Excellence for the Future Award http://awards.cali.org/1df3c920. Mr. Khojasteh has a passion not to just practice law, but more importantly to protect the rights of his clients through vigorous legal representation. Mr. Khojasteh's compassion and empathy for injured workers is arguable unmatched, which has helped him advocate for the rights of the injured that much more. Mr. Khojasteh was able to gain meaningful legal experience by working at the San Diego Public Defenders Office, and two reputable Orange County law firms practicing in the areas of Family Law, Wills/Estates, Personal Injury, Bankruptcy, Foreclosures, as well has managing his own law firm, Khojasteh Law Group, which also focused in the area of workers compensation law. Mr. Khojasteh is fluent in Farsi, a member of the American Bar Association, and is licensed to practice law in the state of California.

Peter Lay

Peter is a partner at KLK Law Group LLP who devotes 100% of his practice to the area of Workers' Compensation law. Peter's dedication and experience helping others was developed long before he became an attorney. Peter received his B.A. from the University of California, Los Angeles. After graduating, Peter worked for the Orange County Social Services Agency where he explained and administered laws and policies pertaining to Federal/State/County assistance programs to families in need. Peter went on to obtain his Juris Doctorate from Thomas Jefferson School of Law. After law school Peter worked for a boutique law firm in San Diego for several years where honed his skills in assisting clients obtain favorable family law rulings and immigration decisions. Peter is fluent in Khmer. In his free time Peter enjoys spending time with his family, rooting for UCLA sports, playing fantasy football, and traveling around the world.

Vatana Lay

Mr. Lay is a partner at KLK Law Group. He graduated valedictorian from Thomas Jefferson School of Law. Following law school, he worked for some of the largest and most reputable national civil litigation law firms. Mr. Lay specialized in insurance litigation for the past decade where he gained insight on how insurance companies delay benefits and compensation to injured individuals. However, in recent years, Mr. Lay perceived a growing unfairness in the treatment of injured individuals and redirected his purpose to ensuring these individuals are treated and compensated fairly through the legal process. Mr. Lay makes it his priority to listen to his clients to ensure he can better assist them because he understands every client has different needs. Mr. Lay is a fierce litigator and has achieved outstanding results on behalf of his clients.
