Transactional Analysis was brought to India in the year 1971 by Fr. George Kandathil SJ, who was trained under Muriel James and Claude Steiner, the first disciples of Dr. Eric Berne. Fr. Kandathil was a teaching member accredited by the International Transactional Analysis Association (ITAA), California, USA. TA became a well-accepted training methodology in our country with the two programs he conducted in 1971 - one at the Inter-company seminar for senior managers at Taj Hotel, Mumbai and the other at the annual meeting of the Catholic Bishops Conference in Kolkata. ICTA has, over the years, trained hundreds of therapeutic counsellors and corporate personnel through courses conducted at the institute as well as outside. Fr.
