SHIELD

Today, SHIELD is comprised of nineteen Public Safety Member Agencies from our tri-counties. Located at 4300 Caterpillar Road, SHIELD Training Center features a 48,500-square-foot facility with seven classrooms, a mat room, a force option simulator room, five conference rooms, eleven offices, and two additional breakout rooms, with potential for expansion. Members may also access the Shasta College Regional Public Safety Training Facility's classrooms and training grounds... Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, Shasta County fire departments sought grant funding for a regional fire training center, but with much of the technical training unavailable locally, departments were to send employees out of the area for essential training at very high costs, limiting the number and frequency of trainings employees could attend.
