I majored in philosophy and like to think of myself as a philosopher in the etymological sense, not because I possess a wide variety of skills or knowledge but because these things allow me to understand how to approach, analyze, and respond to things in a more holistic sense. If human action can ultimately be linked to some underlying desire for connection (or understood as a transformation from the individual to the collective) then the most effective way of strengthening our ability to create such connections is through expanding our perspective: either as an expansion of individual experience itself or as an expansion of the modes in which individual experience is understood. This is to say that the more ways we understand expression and perception, the easier it is to create something resonant.
