Harald Uphoff has been managing director of the foundation since September 2021. In November 2022 he was appointed chairman of supervisory board of Bündnis Bürgerenergie (BBEn). The biologist was deputy managing director of the German Renewable Energy Federation (BEE) and at the same time managing director of the Bundesverband Deutscher Wasserkraftwerke e. V. (BDW), a member association of the BEE. Most recently, Harald Uphoff was head of the conflict avoidance department at the Kompetenzzentrum Naturschutz und Energiewende. As a mediator and moderator, professionally implemented participation processes in renewable energy projects are particularly important to him. This is the only way to achieve the necessary rapid expansion of renewable energies in the future.

Prof Dr Norbert Willenbacher runs the Institute of Mechanical Process Engineering and Mechanics at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). Among other things, he works on the development of new materials for solar cells and Li-Ion batteries. Prof Willenbacher is the author of way over a hundred scientific articles, book contributions, the head of the German Rheological Society and co-publisher of various scientific magazines. From 2006 to 2014 Prof Willenbacher was the head of the supervisory board of the juwi AG. Previously, he contributed to the implementation of wind and solar power plants as a freelance project developer. From 1990 to 2004 he worked as the leading scientist at the plastics research of the BASF SE.
