After seeing countless photos of the Painted Hills and the John Day Fossil Beds National Monument, we decided to take our first trip to visit in 2016 and found not only the Painted Hills themselves to be even more beautiful than expected, we fell in love with the entire area and the sense of quiet and getting away from it all. We loved Mitchell and the feeling of community, and decided to buy our house here after only one visit. While we aren't able to live in Mitchell, Oregon full time, we visit as often as possible and spend the time hiking and photographing the area, and are happy to be able to share our house with others in hopes they will enjoy the area as much as we do!...
