Urban studies is a multidisciplinary research area concerned with changes in the physical environment and social structures, meanings given to urban spaces, and the actors and policies in urban development. Studies take into account, for instance, economic development, social stratification, democracy, gender, ethnicity, and actors' viewpoints.
