KILKEE SUB AQUA CLUB

ORIGINS: Kilkee Sub Aqua club was founded in 1982 to promote scuba diving in the West Clare area. The club has 30 plus members and is a member club of CFT - Comhairle Fó Thuinn (The Irish Underwater Council) - the regulatory body for sports diving in Ireland with about 80 member clubs both North and South... ACTIVITIES: The club engages in specialist training courses with other clubs, provides a platform for dive outings for members and visiting divers during the season and also operates its own Search & Recovery unit, assisting the other emergency sevices when required and working with other clubs in the region when people are missing at sea. The club operates on a voluntary non-profit-making basis. The club has its own clubhouse, based in Kikee, and a Ribcraft 6.8 rigid inflatable boat (RIB).
