STYAL RUNNING CLUB - Key Persons
I joined Styal in 2007, and enjoyed being part of a growing club and watching people improve. Since then I've completed 22 marathons including the World Majors, becoming a Run Leader in 2016 and a Coach in 2019. Now living in Lanzarote and coaching the club remotely.
I came late to running, joining the Club's beginners course in 2016. Running is now a huge part of my life and, as one of the least speedy members of the club, I am passionate about encouraging and supporting those who also take a little longer to cover the ground.
I am a founder member of the club and a former chairman. I've run a variety of races all over the world, from 5k to marathons. Now I run for pleasure and to keep fit. I'm a Run Leader and enjoy supporting the Couch to 5K groups.
I joined the club having taken up running again in 2018, and it's improved my running greatly. The support is fantastic from fellow club members and helps you achieve things you never thought you would do.

After a long career with the BBC I discovered running in retirement, and joined the club in 2019. As well as club runs I enjoy 10k races, and recently upgraded to half marathons. I'm also part of the core volunteer team at Wilmslow parkrun.
From the moment I joined a work team running the Great Manchester 10k in 2015 I was hooked, and I've gone on to run all distances up to 100k. I love the feeling of being fit and healthy that running gives me, and the socialability of being part of a great club.
After their inspirational Couch 2 5K course in 2018, I joined the club and continued to 10K and half marathon distances within a year. I was lucky enough to win a place in the London Marathon 2021, and it was one of the best experiences of my life.
I started running aged 45 and ran my first marathon aged 50. After saying never again, I ran another 18! Highlights include completing the World Marathon Majors and Comrades Ultra Marathon. Running 5k every day in 2022 for #MoveAgainstCancer
