In prior US laser development programs, our team engineered and tested low-cost KrF lasers to project microsecond-length pulses of very large energies into space...
Innoven's approach uses a water-cooled, graphite-based moderator to convert neutron energy into thermal energy. The first-wall issue is addressed using materials that can tolerate the incident hot debris. The issue of tritium production is eased by targets that produce a high ratio of neutrons to burnt tritium. Excess neutrons are absorbed by a ceramic Li-6 breeder blanket that produces both tritium and extra thermal energy.
