Curcumin is a natural, herbal extract of the root used to produce the spice Turmeric. Turmeric has been used for thousands of years in the Ayurvedic system of medicine. Curcumin makes up about 2 to 5% of turmeric and consists of a number of biologically active compounds known as the curcuminoids.
