HELEN FOSTER

I am a self-taught ceramicist, having first discovered the pleasure and satisfaction of working with clay when I was at school. My fascination with the medium has lasted ever since and over the years I have taken numerous evening classes, finding opportunities to work on my own ideas whenever, and wherever, possible. In 2010 I decided it was time to become more than an enthusiastic amateur, and found dedicated studio space at The Adam Pottery in Edinburgh's Stockbridge... My time at The Adam Pottery transformed both my work, and my sense of my own potential as a ceramic artist. Working independently but alongside other ceramicists, I was able to experiment and develop my skills within a wonderfully supportive and creative environment. I started to exhibit and sell my work at The Pottery and elsewhere, and began to consider the real possibility of becoming a professional potter.
