Latchstring is comprised of a family team of preservationists whose interest in saving period structures goes back to the 1970s. Our first endeavor was to replace the 18th century log cabin on our own home farm in Virginia that had been destroyed in the 1970s. We searched for and found a cabin of similar age located within our same county, which we dismantled and moved to our farm where it was restored. It was a daunting task for an inexperienced but determined historical buff and his small group of workers. When the project was finally completed, we were hooked, and Latchstring was born...
