Ajay Anand - CEO

Ajay is the Chief Executive of Horizon Energy Group, leading the executive management team and managing the Group's business interests. Ajay joined Horizon Energy Group in September 2008. Ajay is an electrical engineer with more than 12 years experience in the electricity sector. He has significant experience in utility strategy, design, construction, management and operations. Prior to joining Horizon Energy Group, Ajay was the General Manager for Network Assets at Top Energy Limited, situated in Kaikohe. He was responsible for all elements of pricing, network related regulatory compliance and disclosures, planning, development, and operational control of the network which serviced 28,000 customers. In addition to this he led Top Energy's design team who worked on extensive tenders supporting the company's Fijian operations. Before joining Top Energy he had several engineering and management roles with Mercury Energy and Unison Networks Limited. Ajay is a Chartered Electrical Engineer and holds a degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering as well as a post graduate business qualification from Deakin University (Australia) and Henley in the United Kingdom. He is a member of the Electricity Engineers Association and the Institution of Engineering and Technology

Alistair Vickers - CIO

Alistair has 20+ years of experience working in IT, including roles as CIO for Tu Ora Compass Health, MetService, and Wellington Water, IT Manager for Plunket, CTO for Parliamentary Service, and Technology Manager, Metering for Vector. Alistair moved to New Zealand in 2003 from the UK, after a varied career in teaching, merchant banking, and IT - amongst others. He spent five years in Chad and Algeria as a boy and has worked in France, Germany, Israel, and Australia, as well as the UK and New Zealand. Alistair's main areas of interest are in the innovative use of technology to drive new opportunities for service improvement and benefits realization into all organizations and their customers. He was an early champion for and adopter of Cloud Computing, Smart Metering, and the Internet of Things in New Zealand. Most recently, in his role at Tu Ora, Alistair has made the Top 50 CIO list for the last 2 years and in November was recognised as CIO of the Year for 2022.

Tony was appointed the Chairman of the Board in August 2016 and has been a Director of Horizon since 2009. A resident of Ohope, Tony has been a professional Director since his retirement as Managing Director of Seeka Kiwifruit Industries Limited in 2006. He has held numerous governance roles of both domestic and international companies, including Zespri Group, Canterbury Grasslands Limited and Chiefs Rugby Club Limited. He has also served for many years on various Advisory Boards for the Whakatane District Council. He is currently Chairman of Opotiki Packing and Coolstorage Limited (OPAC); The Fresh Fruit Company of Nelson Limited and Waiu Dairy Group. He is a Director of the following entities: The LeaderBrand Group, Ngati Awa Farms Limited, White Island Tours Limited, Matai Pacific Iwi Collective and a number of private companies. Chris Ellis

Chris' background spans the manufacturing, heavy construction and engineering sectors. He has held CEO roles with Brightwater Group and prior to that at Fletcher Building Limited where he was Chief Executive of the Building Products Division. Chris holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree from the University of Canterbury and a Masters degree (Engineering Science and Management) from Stanford University in California. Chris is currently Chairman of Hiway Group Limited and also serves on the Board of Directors of WorkSafe New Zealand, Steel and Tube Ltd, and Steelpipe Ltd.

Jade Leung

Jade has over 19 years' of leadership experience in all aspects of strategic human resources, organisational development, safety and change management. This has been gained in diverse, people dependent industries such as infrastructure, aviation and IT. Prior to joining Horizon Energy Group, Jade held senior leadership roles with Auckland International Airport, Leighs Construction and IAG. A key driver for Jade is to make a positive difference to business performance by intelligently challenging the status quo and proactively aligning people and business strategy to deliver value for customers. Jade holds a Master's degree in Industrial and Organisational Psychology with undergraduate majors in media studies and communication and psychology.

Jamie Broderick

Jamie joined Horizon Energy Group in February 2017 in the role of General Manager Business Development. This role is responsible for developing strategies and initiatives that will be focussed on business development, marketing and communication to drive the profitability and growth of the Group. Jamie brings with him a considerable amount of experience and track record in growing and developing business over a sustained period of time. Jamie has held several senior leadership roles with a number of large and successful organisations. His most recent role was that of Strategic Alliance Group Director with the Compass Group who are a global player in providing food and soft services.

John Beveridge

John has held a range of senior executive roles across a variety of sectors from building and industrial materials manufacturing, distribution, finance and consumer goods. He was most recently the Chief Executive for the leading building trade materials supplier at Placemakers. John is currently chair of the New Zealand Scaffolding Group, a Director of the Horizon Energy Group, Steel and Tube Limited and Door + Window Systems Auckland Limited. He acts as an Advisory Chair for Dynamic Vanuatu. John is a Chartered member of the Institute of Directors. He has an economics degree from Otago University, Marketing Post Graduate Diploma from the University of Auckland and completed the Senior Executive programme at Columbia University, New York.

Kiran Watkins - Secretary

Kiran was appointed Group Chief Financial Officer and Company Secretary in September 2018. Prior this appointment Kiran had been the General Manager Commercial and Technology within the Horizon Energy Group since September 2011. Kiran leads the Group finance functions, including mergers and acquisitions, corporate procurement, risk management, and the Group ICT functions, and is responsible for the regulatory team that delivers regulation, pricing, and revenue assurance for the Electricity Distribution Business. Kiran has held various senior finance roles both in New Zealand and in the United Kingdom. Prior to the Horizon Energy Group, Kiran was the Finance Manager for Planning and Support Services at Vero Insurance New Zealand, and brings considerable strategic finance and commercial planning experience. Kiran holds a Bachelor of Commerce and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Auckland, and has a number of professional memberships including: Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand, New Zealand Association of Economists, Institute of Directors in New Zealand, and he is also an Associate Member of IT Professionals New Zealand.

Linda Robertson

Linda Robertson is a professional non-executive director with over 30 years' governance experience. In the corporate environment she has worked predominately in the finance and energy sector and has held various senior management roles encompassing; treasury, credit management, audit, risk management, procurement and insurance. Linda has been a fulltime company director since 2015 and is an experienced director, chair and committee chair. Her governance experience includes; listed entities, council controlled, government owned, co-operative and private companies having held board positions since 1999.

Oloff Visser

Oloff has joined Horizon Energy Group as General Manager - Business Transformation & Change. He brings extensive multinational experience having worked globally across the fields of HR, Safety, Leadership, Change and Governance where he has been instrumental in leading significant organisational transformation and building high performance teams based on talent and capability. Prior to joining the Horizon Energy Group, Oloff worked and consulted extensively in Australia where he specialised in establishing and developing HR and Safety foundational systems, employee engagement, leadership development, business process design and mergers & acquisitions. He believes that the key priorities in business transformation are clear, concise and people focused communication supported by tangible actions that deliver tangible outcomes. Oloff holds an MBA and various tertiary level qualifications in HR and Safety. He is a graduate member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and a member of the global Advisory Board Council. He also serves as Board member for two international companies in the Disability Sector.

Yolanda Oosthuizen

Yolanda joined Horizon Energy Group in October 2022 in the role of General Manager Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality. This role is responsible for developing strategies and initiatives that will be focussed on positive Health and Safety Culture, Compliance and SHEQ Performance driving continuous improvement within the Group. Yolanda brings with her a considerable amount of experience and track record in health, safety, environment, and quality with an operational background in the past 15 years. Yolanda has held several senior leadership roles with several large and successful organisations. Her most recent role was that of National SHEQ Manager New Zealand for Veolia ANZ, part of the global player Veolia in Environmental, Water and Waste Services. Yolanda holds a Bachelor of Honours in Environmental Management and a Batchelor of Science in Natural and Environmental Sciences as well as Certificates in Business Risk Management and International General Industry Health, Safety and Environmental Management. She is also a lead auditor for ISO 9001 14001 and 18001.
