Hermitage Primary School opened in 1970, and caters for boys and girls, aged 4-11 years of age. At present, there are approximately 210 children on roll. There are eight separate teaching spaces, each one having an adjoining activity area. The hall is at the centre of the school and provides a natural focus for assemblies, music, drama and physical activities... Our school also has a resourced provision for children with autism. This was established in 2007 and can take seven pupils from age 4-11. The children are included in their mainstream class as much as possible, with appropriate support from our specialist team; or they may be taught individually or in small groups for aspects of the curriculum that they find particularly challenging. We also have a speech and language therapist attached to the provision for one day each week.
