A Wood Shed is a family owned Timber and Hardware business catering for a wide range of building materials for both builders and DIY's. The business started in 1997 when the owner, who was then building, saw an opportunity to start a company that provided specialised building products with an emphasis on personalised communication and quality products. The business started in Darra and in 2006, while the Darra depot was being developed, the company expanded to another outlet at Brassall on the Warrego Highway in Ipswich. A Wood Shed's management team has many years' experience in both the building and timber industry and has always taken the approach of supporting local builders and providing expert information. When the business was set up it strived to meet 3 main values, and still to this day the company has an emphasis on customer service, quality product and competitive pricing. We have developed over time a substantial stock holding in both timber and hardware to allow both depots to be a one stop shop for builders to come in, get the product and information they require to get their work completed. We have also developed a relationship with all major suppliers so we can source a large range of products that are not stocked, in just a few days. We endeavour to source materials from licensed logging both local and overseas that meet the strict regulations of FSC. More recently, the company has been involved in the HBT buying group. This group is for independent stores that, together, can get the competitive pricing of our biggest competitors. The owner of the business has been on the executive team for the last few years and A Wood Shed was awarded the store of the year in 2017.
