Overall, the phased redevelopment intends to create an urban, mixed-use waterfront district consisting of office, residential, hotel, educational, entertainment, cultural and retail uses. Included within the development, the University of South Florida will construct the future home of the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine and Heart Institute. Integrating principals of walkability, sustainability, connectivity, and wellness, the project strives to become a world-class development... The roadway and infrastructure work, set to begin in late summer 2016, is part of a larger, master planned development in southern downtown Tampa. Once all phases of the development are completed, there will be up to 9,000,000 square feet of new commercial, residential, educational, entertainment, cultural and retail space with a total investment exceeding $2 billion.
