Laboratory of Prof. Michael P. Short, Department of Nuclear Science Engineering, MIT. We investigate the causes, effefcts, and remedies of corrosion and microstructural change in energy systems, with an emphasis on nuclear power. Major research thrusts include reducing CRUD buildup in LWRs, development of on-resistant, structural materials for current future reactors, and the use of in-situ visualization to investigate mechanisms of corrosion, fouling, and radiation damage.
