Brittany Hinchliffe enters the 2023-2024 season as an Assistant Track & Field Coach for Evergreen State. The 2006 graduate of University of Oregon will serve as the Throws Coach for the Geoducks.
Prior to joining the Geoducks Brittany coached multiple high school student-athletes to success, including the 2019 4A HS Girls State Champion (Discus), multiple school record holders, and an Olympia High School athlete with a throw of 155'3". Currently she is coaching a high school hammer group, with athletes continuing to compete at NCAA Division 1 and 2 institutions. Since 2011, Brittany has been a coach with Wounded Warriors, and has coached multiple Wounded Warrior Games and Invictus Games champions in both standing and seated discus and shot put. She was a Team USA Coach for the Invictus Games in 2016 (Orlando) and 2017 (Toronto).
No stranger to success herself, Brittany was mentored and coached by the 1996 Silver Medalist and American Record holder in the Hammer, Lance Deal. As a collegiate student-athlete, Brittany competed for both Washington State University and the University of Oregon, highlighted with placing 12 th in 2005 and 3 rd in 2006 at the NCAA Championships, helping the 2006 Ducks to an 8 th place finish at the NCAA DI National Championships. During her 2006 campaign, she also placed 2nd at West Regionals Championships. Brittany continued her athletic career post-collegiately, qualifying for the 2008 and 2012 US Olympic Trials, as well as the 2007, 2009 and 2011 US Championships. At the Trials and Championships, she finished her highest position of 10 th place 3 separate times. She threw the Olympic B standard with a throw of 67.27.
As a prep athlete at Capital High School (Olympia, WA), Brittany placed 2 nd in the WIAA State Championships in the Discus and Shot Put her senior year, and was ranked 5 th nationally in the Hammer in a state record of 166-9.
Brittany graduated in 2006 with a bachelor's in history, and in 2014 with a Masters in Prevention Science. She hosts personal bests of 47.21 Meters in the Discus and 67.27 Meters in the Hammer, and currently resides in Olympia.

Carissa Bounds enters her second season as the head women's volleyball coach at Evergreen in 2024. Before her first season as the head coach last year, she was the assistant coach at Evergreen for the previous two-and-a-half years. During her time as the assistant coach, Evergreen earned a postseason appearance in 2022 and received the CCC Sportsmanship Award for two consecutive years. Before her time at Evergreen, she was the head volleyball coach at Black Hills High School. She has coached at various clubs over the last in years in both the Puget Sound Region and the North Texas Region.
Bounds graduated from the University of North Texas with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration in 2017 and received her Master's Degree in Adult Education from Eastern Washington University in the spring of 2022.

Cory Jenkins enters his first year as an assistant cross Country and track & field coach for the Geoducks. Jenkins will assist in coaching the distance runners, with an emphasis on the marathon team as well as development.
No stranger to distance running, Jenkins started running for Evergreen Head Coach Joel Pearson at Whatcom Community College, where he was the captain of the cross country and track & field programs. While with the Whatcom Orcas, Jenkins dropped his times from 18:06 (5k) to 15:01 (5k), set five school records, and placed sixth at the NWAC Cross Country Championships, while earning his first All-America honor.
After college, Jenkins won three marathons: Birch Bay International Marathon, Skagit Flats Marathon, Green River Marathon, and several half-marathons, including The Evergreen State College Geoduck Gallop. Jenkins received his first USA national medal at the USA 50k National Championships in New York, where he placed sixth, and continued that success with a ninth place finish at the USA 15k Trail National Championships and a fourth place finish at the USA Half-Marathon Trail National Championships. Jenkins received his USA Track & Field Level 1 Coaching Certification in 2021.
Working in the medical field as a Cardiac Sonographer, Jenkins is passionate about cardiovascular health and helping patients in their cardiac care. In his free time, he enjoys hiking around the Pacific Northwest, paddle boarding, snowboarding, traveling, and spending time with his friends and family.

Derrick Pringle has been hired as the head women's basketball coach at The Evergreen State College as announced by Associate Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Zeb Hoffman. Pringle began his duties with the Geoducks at the start of October, 2024
Pringle, who received a bachelor's degree from Evergreen in 2000, has a history of coaching basketball players in Olympia and the surrounding area. He also has been in charge of the non-profit DAP Hoops, which mentors kids through teaching basketball and life skills. The support from DAP Hoops also includes helping students prepare to attend college. DAP Hoops has been in operation since 1997.
Throughout his career, Pringle's philosophy has been to uplift others through his coaching and mentoring efforts. As a result, it was an emotional departure when Pringle met with the younger children at DAP Hoops during his final day with the organization. According to Pringle, he and the youngsters had tears in their eyes as they completed their final gathering together.
As a coach, Pringle was an assistant boys' basketball coach at Timberline High School (C team head coach) and River Ridge High School (JV head coach, varsity assistant) for one year each while attending Evergreen from 1998-2000. In 2000-01, he was the assistant men's basketball coach at South Puget Sound Community College.
He became the athletic director and head boys' basketball coach at Northwest Christian High School in Lacey, Washington, from 2001-03. He was the athletic director and head girls' basketball coach at Chief Leschi Schools in Puyallup, Washington, form 2003-06.
Pringle returned to The Evergreen State College as an assistant women's basketball coach from 2006-08. Later, he was the head women's coach at Grays Harbor College from 2008-12, served as the head boys' coach at Shelton High School from 2014-19, and was the head boys coach at Rochester High School from 2019-22. He received the Rising Coaches Community Award in 2021 and 2022.
Now he's back with the Geoducks and ready to build the Evergreen women's basketball program. The regular season opener is at Saint Martin's University on Nov. 13.
"I'm kind of excited," Pringle said. "It's always been a dream of mine to come back to the school I was at and give back because of what it gave to me."
Pringle has been impressed with the Geoducks' so far. "They're very positive, I like their energy, and I see good things coming out of this transition from Coach Jackie Robinson to me." Robinson left Evergreen this summer to become an assistant women's basketball coach at Boise State University.
The Evergreen women's basketball players made Pringle feel right at home as soon as he met them. "They were very welcoming, and they really work hard."

I was born in Mongolia Autonomous Region People's Republic of China. I started wrestling at 8 years old. At 18 years old I won the Senior National Championship, becoming the youngest senior champion in China. Since that time, I have received 7 national championships. In addition, I finished top three in the East Asian Games and represented China at the World Wrestling Championships and Asian Wrestling Championships. 1996,2000, 2004, was the Chinese Olympic Team Member. I was unbeaten at 125 lbs. weight class from 1995 to 2001 in China. During that period, I was also awarded the Beijing Top Ten Athletes of All Sports.
As an assistant coach in 2004, I coached wrestler Xu Wang who went on to become an Olympic Champion. In 2006 I was named head coach of the Beijing Women's National Wrestling Team. I developed two Women's National Champions, and five Men's National Champions. In 2008 I resigned as coach in P.R. of China and moved to the United States. Since that time, I was an assistant coach at Wartburg College in Iowa. In my time there, Wartburg College has won 4 NCAA Division III Championships (2008-2009, 2015-2016, 2016-2017, and 2017-2018). In 2018, I was Grays Harbor College Women's wrestling Head coach and got the NCWA national champion for the team and coached 3 wrestlers be national champion. In 2019 started women's wrestling program at Simpson University (CA), due the pandemic I resigned there. In 2022 I started women's wrestling program at Evergreen state college.
For the referee career, in 2010, I received Golden Whistle Award at Northern Plains Regional Championships and in 2018 be the Santos Cageao Award outstanding freestyle official for US Cadet and Junior National Championship at Fargo ND. I am also a United World Wrestling's certified wrestling official. I have a master's degree and graduated from the University of Northern Iowa.

Georgia Wright has joined Evergreen as an assistant women's wrestling coach for the 2024-25 season.

James Chandler is in his fifth season as an assistant women's basketball coach at The Evergreen State College. Chandler is in his 30th year coaching women's basketball. He also has 10 years of coaching experience with women's softball.
Prior to becoming a coach, Chandler served 15 years in the U.S. Army. He is a combat veteran. In addition, he is retired as an environment outreach education and progam manager with the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife.

Jenkins still trains recreationally and hopes to complete all six of the marathon majors.

John Lane is in his second season as an assistant coach with the Evergreen women's wrestling team.

Prior to joining the staff, Beam competed for University of Arkansas - Little Rock in cross country and track and field. While with the LR Trojans, Beam won the steeplechase at the OVC Track & Field Championships and had personal bests of 8:27 for 3k, 14:38 for 5k, and 8:55 for the 3,000-meter steeplechase.
Beam was also coached by fellow Evergreen coaches Joel Pearson and Katie Burnett at Mountlake Terrace High School. As a student-athlete with the MTHS Hawks, Beam was a captain, school record holder, and State qualifier. He placed second at the Junior Outdoor National T&F Championships in the 2,000-meter steeplechase. Beam graduated from Mountlake Terrace High School in 2020 and from Arkansas - Little Rock in 2024 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Kate Green is in her first season as the head women's soccer coach at Evergreen after being promoted in the summer of 2024. Green began her coaching career with the Geoducks as an assistant women's soccer coach. She brings a wealth of experience and enthusiasm to her new role. She hopes to lead Evergreen to an outstanding season.
Reflecting on her new role, Green said "I am beyond excited and deeply grateful to Evergreen for trusting me with the opportunity to lead the team. I see this as a great opportunity."
Green's dedication to the team and her vision for the future are set to inspire and energize the players. She will work to help them strive for success both on and off the field. Green graduated from Evergreen in the spring of 2024.

Kate Kessel is in her first season as an assistant women's basketball coach for the Geoducks. She will help coach The Evergreen State College team in practices and games.
Kessel began coaching at North Thurston High School in 2013 as a varsity assistant coach. She stayed at North Thurston for 10 years. While at NTHS, Kessel received the opportunity to serve as the head coach of the junior varsity and "C" teams.

Lashawn Williams joins the Geoducks as an assistant women's basketball coach for the 2024-25 season. He previously was the assistant girls' basketball coach at Steilacoom High School from 2022-23 through 2023-24.
He was the assistant boys' basketball coach at Truman Middle School for the 2021-22 and 2022-23 seasons. He served as the assistant boys' basketball coach at Foss High School in 2019-20.
Williams has been the program owner and head coach for Xtreme Ballerz Basketball since 2014. He was a JBLM youth sports head coach from 2010 through 2012 and was an assistant boys' basketball coach at Mann Middle School in 2016.
At Evergreen, Williams focuses on skill development. He also contributes to scouting reports, gameday planning, recruiting, and community outreach.

Meagan Minson has joined the 2019-20 Evergreen State College athletic staff as the Head Athletic Trainer announced today by Director of Student Wellness, Recreation, and Athletics Elizabeth McHugh.
"Meagan is committed to providing quality care to our student athletes, and ensuring they have what they need in order to stay healthy throughout their competitive season," said McHugh. "I'm really excited that she has joined our team."
Minson comes way of California, where she was the San Jacinto High School athletic trainer for two years. She was the athletic trainer for all 14 sports as well as developed the athletic training position, creating emergency action plan and protocols for athletes.

Robert McKinney joined the Evergreen athletics staff as the sports information director in August of 2024. Prior to arrive at Evergreen he was the assistant athletics director, communications at Willamette University in Salem, Oregon.
McKinney worked in sports information throughout his career. He received bachelor's degree in Mass Communications and English Literature from Baker University (Kan.) in 1984 and earned a master's degree from Pittsburg State University (Kan.) in 1989. He contributed his efforts at several colleges before working at Eastern New Meixco University from 1988-2006 and at Willamette from 2006-2024.

Steve Schmidt is in his third season as the head coach of the Evergreen men's soccer team and is in his first year as an assistant women's soccer coach. He served as he head coach of the women's soccer team from 2019 through the spring of 2024. Previously, he was an assistant men's soccer coach at Evergreen in 2017 and 2018.
Schmidt graduated from Saint Martin's University with a degree in Secondary Education and an emphasis in Educational Technology. Before joining the Geoduck coaching staff, he worked at Evergreen in the Academic Deans area as well as Student and Academic Support Services, starting in 2008.
At the club level, Schmidt coached and was a director with Blackhills FC for 11 years. He coached all ages from U10-U19 and served as Director of Coaching and Player Development .
Schmidt currently holds a National A-Senior Coaching License through the US Soccer Federation and owns a Goalkeeping Diploma from the United Soccer Coaches.

Zeb Hoffman enters his first year as the Geoducks' Associate Director of Intercollegiate Athletics after spending five years as Evergreen's Head Track and Field Coach. He will continue his role serving as an assistant track & field coach (throws) with Evergreen, as well as the athletic departments strength and conditioning coach.
During his time as a head coach, Hoffman grew the track and field program from six athletes in 2018 to 22 athletes in 2020 prior to the COVID shutdown. In addition to the 10 school records he has coached, he also coached Desmond Hudson to a conference runner-up finish in the Discus and Corona Parker to a NAIA National Heptathlon Qualifying Mark.
As a Student-Athlete for the Geoducks (2015-2017), Zeb, an Olympia native, won the National Champion in the Men's Hammer Throw at the 2016 NAIA Outdoor T&F Championships, and the 2016 and 2017 Cascade Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships, where he broke the hammer conference record. The three-time NAIA all-American (Hammer-2016 & 2017, Weight Throw-2016) also qualified for the 2017 USATF Indoor Track and Field Championships in the weight throw, and broke the Men's (35-39) Age Group American Record in the indoor 56-pound weight throw. Hoffman's NAIA national championships appearances also include a Runner-Up finish in the Weight Throw and fourth place in the Hammer. Zeb, along with multiple time national-runner up Anthony Johnson, led the Geoducks to a 13 th place finish at the 2016 NAIA Indoor Track & Field Championships
More than a student-athlete and coach, Zeb played a vital role in the growth of the Evergreen's athletic department. In the fall of 2022, men's and women's wrestling was added as an intercollegiate sport and men's and women's cross country was brought back to Evergreen after a 10-year hiatus.
Zeb completed his bachelor's degree at Evergreen in 2017, with an area of emphasis in coaching, and a Master's Degree in 2021 from CWU in Athletic Administration. He holds a USATF Level 1 coaching certification as well as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) certification from the National Strength and Conditioning Association.
He currently lives in Olympia with his wife Katie and son Joe.
