Dr Lawrence Howells

Dr Howells is a Clinical Psychologist, based in Norwich, Norfolk, who worked in the NHS for over ten years. He studied Experimental Psychology at Oxford University, graduating in 2001. Following this, he held various clinical and research roles in the NHS and at University College London. He trained as a doctor of Clinical Psychology at the University of East Anglia, Norwich, Norfolk, and completed this in 2010. Since then, he has worked in mental health services in Norfolk and Cambridgeshire, developing the range of his experience. He has provided a great deal of therapy to individuals of all ages, many presenting issues, and differing degrees of severity and impairment. He has worked with individuals, couples, families, and staff groups. He is a Clinical Associate Professor in Clinical Psychology at the University of East Anglia and has published a variety of different articles, chapters and two books (see the books tab). He is experienced in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT), and Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR). Dr Howells is a Chartered member and an Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society (BPS). He is registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), accredited by the British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP) for his CBT work, by the Association for Cognitive Analytic Therapy (ACAT) for his CAT work, and by EMDR Europe for his EMDR work.
