Courtney is a physician assistant specializing in joint replacement at MMP Orthopedics. Courtney earned her Bachelor of Science from the University of New England and went on to pursue her Master of Science in physician assistant studies at Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. She has been in practice since 2014, joining Maine Medical Partners in 2017. Prior to joining The MMP joint replacement team, Courtney worked for Maine Medical Center department of trauma surgery as well as South Shore Hospital Emergency Department. She is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. Courtney assists Dr. Rana in the operating room and works alongside the team evaluating patients in the office. She is a Maine native and is enthusiastic about providing quality healthcare for patients throughout Maine and New England.

Dr. Adam Rana is a Board Certified, Fellowship-Trained Orthopedic Surgeon who specializes in minimally invasive hip and knee replacement surgery with specific training in the anterolateral muscle sparring approach to the hip, custom partial and total knee replacement surgery as well as revision hip and knee replacement surgery. He also brings expertise in new surgical techniques including minimally invasive muscle sparing surgical procedures, computer navigation, as well as robotic joint replacement. Currently, he is working to introduce outpatient hip and knee replacement surgery to Maine Medical Center where he serves as the Director of the Joint Replacement Center. Dr. Rana earned his Bachelor's degree with Honors in Economics and Biology from Colby College where he graduated Cum Laude. While at Colby, Dr. Rana spent two summers in Minneapolis, MN at the Hennepin County Orthopedic Biomechanics Laboratory under the guidance of nationally recognized orthopedic surgeons Drs. Raymond Gustillo and Richard Kyle. He was actively involved in research projects relating to biomechanics in hip and knee replacement systems. Dr. Rana subsequently completed his Orthopedic Surgical Residency at the Boston Medical Center, under the guidance of Drs. Paul Tornetta, William Healy, and Richard Iorio. After residency, he completed a fellowship in Adult Reconstruction, Arthritis, and Joint Replacement Surgery at the Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) in New York City. This institution has consistently been voted the #1 rated Orthopedic Hospital in the nation according to US News and World Report. While at HSS, Dr. Rana trained under several world renowned orthopedic surgeons including Drs. Chitranjan Ranawat, Thomas Sculco, and Eduardo Salvati. Dr. Rana is an active member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons (AAHKS). He was selected by AAHKS to be the Health Care Policy Fellow for 2012 to 2013 and currently serves as the Vice Chair of Health Care Policy. He is actively involved with the Eastern Orthopedic Association where he has been a Program Co-Chair and currently is a board member. He is the Maine State Representative for the New England Orthopedic Association and is on the Board of the Maine State Orthopedics Association. He has published and lectured on multiple areas of orthopedic research, including the economics of total joint replacement, genetic factors relating to DVT and PE following total joint replacement, and orthopedic clinical outcomes. In 2005 he was a member of the team awarded the prestigious John Charnley Award by the Hip Society. Dr. Adam Rana is an attending surgeon at Maine Medical Center. He enjoys spending time with his wife, three young children and their dog Colby as well as running, swimming, cycling, hiking, boating and skiing.
