I will get back to you as soon as I can... The Mott family was based in South Staffordshire, where the line goes back to the 1500s. By 1700 they had settled in Penn, west of Wolverhampton. John Mott (1719-1790) was a bricklayer... From that simple background, John's son William Mott (1756-1826) became Registrar of Lichfield Cathedral, and built himself a fine house in the Cathedral Close. Later generations lived at Wall, south of Lichfield, until the early 1900s.
