The Yarra River is the heart of Melbourne and understandably has a special place in our hearts here at Arbory. Our city sprang up on the banks of the Yarra and was shaped by it and we continue to be shaped by the course it takes as we live, eat and work around it. For the Aborigines of the Wurundjeri tribe who had occupied the lands around Port Phillip Bay for at least 30,000 years before the arrival of the first settlers, the Yarra River was a source of life. They believed it had been carved out by the ancestral creator spirit Bunjil, the wedge tailed eagle...
