Alexander Smith

Alexander joined the Commercial team as a graduate surveyor in 2021 and has since gained experience in the office, industrial and retail sectors. Alexander specialises in agency work across the wider Cambridge area, acting mostly for private clients. He is a qualified member of the RICS and has an MSc in Real Estate from the University of Sheffield. Alexander is also an active member of the RICS Matrics Cambridge chapter.

Alison Coulson

Alison joined Cheffins Commercial department as a Chartered Surveyor in 2010. She was previously an Associate in a major London based practice, advising high profile property management clients in central London and around the UK. Alison has a vast amount of experience across the property management, professional and valuation fields. She specialises in property management, leading a team acting on behalf of three Cambridge Colleges. As a RICS registered Valuer, Alison also deals with valuation work in Cambridge and the surrounding area on a range of commercial property types. She also acts in a corporate advisory capacity for a local business, assisting with all aspects of property management and lease matters relating to their property portfolio.

Edward joined Cheffins in June 2017 having worked in the Cambridge commercial property sector since 1986. He has a range of experience in the agency and professional markets covering the retail, life science and industrial sectors throughout Cambridgeshire. Edward specialises in the retail food and beverage agency market in Cambridge, as well as professional rent review and lease renewal work for both Landlord and Tenent across all sectors. He is a RICS registered valuer. The majority of his work is in Cambridge, Ely, Newmarket, Haverhill and Saffron Walden but some client work takes in Norwich and Peterborough, Hitchin, Stevenage and Bedford. Luke joined the Cheffins Fine Art Department in 2023 as a specialist in Old Master and 19 th century pictures. He studied History at the University of Bristol where his interest of the role of visual imagery in 16 th century Europe first inspired him to pursue a career handling antique art. Luke previously worked for eight years at another auction house where he oversaw a number of varied high profile sales including two paintings by Sir Winston Churchill for over half a million pounds. Old Master paintings are Luke's principal passion and he has a commitment to scholarly research and connoisseurship which has resulted in a number of significant discoveries on behalf of his clients. Luke has a particular interest in landscape painting, historical portraiture, the Dutch Golden Age, Venetian art, and the Victorian painter William Powell Frith.

Luke is a qualified member of the RICS and has a BSc in Real Estate. Luke specialises in the acquisition and disposal of industrial premises, offices and open storage land, with a majority of his work being conducted in Cambridge, Ely, Newmarket, Haverhill and Saffron Walden. Luke's particular focus is on ‘heavy' industrial instructions and open storage land. Outside of his typical role, Luke has acted for a well-known East Anglian charity since 2016, helping the charity to expand its retail presence in Cambridgeshire.

He is a former Trustee, and now Ambassador, of Cambridgeshire Community Foundation; a Board member of The Commercial Property Network (CPN) and has been Cheffins' Joint Managing Partner since 2017.

Throughout the course of the year Ryan and the Haverhill team have spent time volunteering with REACH, a local charity. In a career spanning over 40 years, Steven has been ‘in the trade' since he left school; starting with a jewellery manufacturers in London's Hatton Garden. He was director of a jewellery company specialising in antique jewellery, watches and silver, before joining London jewellers, Asprey, where he was in charge of the gemstone department. He sat on the board of directors of the Gemmological Association of Great Britain, and worked at the London Assay office, where he became a recognised expert in identifying fakes and forgeries of antique silverware, advising and lecturing to BBC antiques roadshow experts, trading standards departments and Fine Art Societies. Steve joined Cheffins in 2018 as Head of the Jewellery, Silver and Watches department. Steven is a FGA & DGA qualified gemmologist and has a lifetime's experience in dealing with jewellery, silver and watches.
