Founded in 2009, the purpose of the International Society for Plasma Medicine (ISPM) is the promotion of scientific activities, the organization and implementation of scientific meetings and presentations - in particular the International Conference on Plasma Medicine (ICPM), as well as educational/training activities and the recognition of excellence in a spectrum of areas of biomedical applications of gas plasmas that issued into a new discipline: Plasma Medicine... As Plasma Medicine grew bigger in importance and attracted more and more attention, several scientists launched a new conference: The International Conference on Plasma Medicine (ICPM). The first conference was held in Corpus Christi (TX), USA in 2007 and was succeeded by San Antonio (TX), USA in 2009. Around the same time, the International Workshop Plasma Tissue Interaction (PTI) was held in Greifswald, Germany, as were other activities all over the world.
