In recent years, people across the country have witnessed the killing of citizens at the hands of law enforcement officers. At a Task Force meeting in NYC, Former President Biden said, "police [need to] interact with the community, get to know the community, build trust in the community." In response, the federal government has issued Consent Decrees to various cities. The Baltimore City Police Department was cited for engaging in a pattern of discriminatory practices against African Americans. Given their rapport with Baltimore city officials and the Baltimore police, Morgan State University faculty were contracted to work with the city and the police to develop meaningful ways to respond to the Consent Decree. Police and Community Engagement (PACE) is a program developed by MSU faculty.
