In 2003 the Health and Safety Executive recognised UKHSA (then HPA) as the UK's first Radiation Protection Adviser Body which was reaffirmed in 2008. UKHSA is now recognised by HSE as an RPA body under IRR17. Our expertise is also acknowledged worldwide with contributions to international bodies such as the International Commission on Radiological Protection (ICRP) and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)... Radon is everywhere but some parts of the country are more likely to have high levels in buildings than others. We have worked with the British Geological Survey to produce a data set and maps of the radon prone areas...
