COVINGTON BANDS

There are Bands at all grade levels 6th-12th grade. Beginning band is for 6th graders and is offered during the school day. The 7th & 8th grade students combine to form one larger band. The middle school bands perform 2 concerts per year (1 each semester). The 7th & 8th grade band also performs at a festival in the spring. Many students decide to continue band into the high school where band is also offered as a class. The HS band is much more active than the middle school band. The core of the band program is the concert band. Students perform 3 concerts and 1 contest per year as a concert band. Students form a marching band to perform at the Indiana State Fair, Purdue University, festivals, parades, and home football games. During basketball season the pep band plays at all home conference girls games and home boys basketball games. The band also performs in the community and at graduation. Additionally, at the HS level, there is a jazz band that meets during the school day.
