For the past 47 years the Amdahl cowherd has focused strongly on the selection of productivity, efficiency, breed back, longevity with the strong carcass traits to meet the industries demands. Through that, they have continued their embryo program with the top females that have met all of their rigorous demands. Because the females are the backbone to the entire beef industry, Amdahl's focus strongly on the longevity of the mother cow, which is a crucial trait to ensure profitability that can be overlooked in bull selection. They make sure our females offer high production ratios, udder quality, structural soundness such as feet, legs and a correct top line... In 1884, Amdahl Beef was established and homesteaded in Flandreau, South Dakota. The Amdahl family has farmed and finished out cattle for 135 years. In 1972, Oliver Amdahl (Tim Amdahl's father) started marketing his own beef through a reefer truck delivering to restaurants and grocery stores across the northern midwest marketing..
