Originally this website was setup as a trading name of SL Law (now dissolved on a solvent basis). Spencer Laymond setup SL Law as a boutique law firm focusing entirely on business law. From advising the founders at the genesis of a new business idea to the ultimate sale of the business, and in between, advising on a variety of commercial contracts for the business itself... Spencer is not a litigator, and does not act on contentious matters. He is a legal draftsman and a negotiator. He believes prevention is better than cure. His focus is on up-front risk management, in building a fence at the top of the hill rather than have the ambulance at the bottom. His focus is making sure there is a binding contract in place, the terms accurately record the deal and are stated in the most favourable and watertight manner as they can be...
