I have worked in the Financial Services industry for over 30 years, mainly working for HSBC, initially in the branch network before moving to an IT role in 1995. I worked in various roles including programming, analysis, design and live support. I was also lucky enough to travel around the world as part of my various roles. After taking redundancy and having some time out from working, I began working as a paraplanner, initially for a solo financial adviser on a self-employed basis before joining QED in August 2019.

I joined the QED team in 2015, holding the position of Assistant Director This role allows me the opportunity to pull on my strengths and show that I am an accomplished, versatile professional who strives to do my very best at all times. My working career began in local government. Initially, with Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council. This was followed by eleven years at West Yorkshire Police headquarters, working closely with both civilian and police force departmental heads, in relation to key community support and financial structure. Believing I could put to good use the skills I had acquired over the years and to push my own boundaries I took the plunge to leave local government and launch a brand new catering business. Due to family commitments, and the sale of the business, I worked for a 2 year period in estate agency before taking up the role of Senior Accounts Manager and working alongside the Directors of a well-established UK franchising company. This was a very responsible role which involved overseeing the smooth running of the head office and the 77 franchised accounts. On a personal note I am passionate about people. I love to spend time with my husband and my two grown up daughters as well as my friends. I have spent many years alongside Dementia and Alzheimer sufferers. Travel and sightseeing is a hobby, along with pulling on my walking boots and walking our fabulous countryside. On the flip side for something more relaxing Yoga, Pilates or a good book!

Karen Sanderson

My background has mainly been in Administration with the majority spanning 10 years with HSBC Bank plc Head Office, where I enjoyed my role within a busy Purchasing Department. As the Office Manager, I am essentially "front of house", greeting clients either in person on reception or via the telephone. I have a great passion for ensuring that our clients are greeted in a warm, professional manner and that the office runs smoothly. I have worked for QED since January 2017 and have enjoyed meeting many existing and new clients along the way. I am responsible for providing the Directors with Management Information, Personnel Administration and Financial Administrative support. Out of work I can be found at the stables looking after my two horses (one of which is an elderly rescue horse) and generally enjoying the outdoor life with my husband.

I joined the team at QED Financial Associates in January 2017. Following a career in global purchasing where I was lucky to have the opportunity to travel the world and manage an international supply base, I decided to work more locally to enable me to focus on family responsibilities. I have lived in Thurgoland with my husband and son for the last fifteen years. I joined QED as a Paraplanner, and the rest is history… QED has been very supportive in helping me build my career in Financial Services. I believe that one of my strengths is the fact that I have extensive commercial experience gained within market leading global companies, which has given me a broad range of skills that I can bring to client and business situations.
