The Ritherdon Lecture, in memory of Keith Ritherdon, was introduced in 2000. The Ritherdon Day, in 2004, celebrated the development of the Society over several decades. The Society, which usually meets at The Church Barn, Bishop's Castle, is a friendly group which warmly welcomes new members and visitors to its functions. Its broad aim is to promote active involvement in the study of history and archaeology, with particular emphasis on south-west Shropshire and the Welsh Border.
