Merichka's has been family owned and operated since April 18, 1933. Known for our World Famous "Poorboys," we also have a fine dining selection that we are proud to offer at reasonable prices. Our meat is graded Choice U.S.D.A. We cut all our meat. We do not buy Portion-controlled, wrapped meat from any meat purveyor, nor do we use Meat Tenderizer. We grind our own beef. We broil all our hamburgers and steaks... On April 18, 1933 when prohibition was repealed, Mary (Merichka) Zdralevich and her son Joe started Merichka's. Merichka's is the Slovenian translation for Mary. Merichka tended bar by day and her son Joe tended bar by night after working a day shift as a lithographer. As business grew so did the size of the restaurant, with son Joe doing most of the remodeling himself.
